Southward to Seville

Southward to Seville

A slow road south: long Algarve lunch, warm Andalusian light, and Seville, at its pace.

Seville, Spain

The Journey

A slow road south: long Algarve lunch, warm Andalusian light, and Seville, at its pace.

Three days shaped around atmosphere rather than itinerary. We drive south from Lisbon towards Andalusia, stopping along the way for lunch in a former convent in Tavira before continuing to Seville. Once there, we settle into a quiet boutique hotel in the centre and let the city set the rhythm. The following day unfolds at Seville's pace – through the old city, a long Andalusian lunch and an evening shaped around flamenco, conversation and staying out a little later than planned. Before returning to Portugal, we spend one final morning across the river in Triana before leaving Seville behind. On the road home, we stop for lunch in a historic palace in Extremadura before continuing towards Lisbon. Nothing rushed, nothing oversold – just a few well-chosen places and the time to enjoy them properly.

Accommodation

Our Home in Seville

For two nights, we stay in a historic hotel in the heart of Santa Cruz, Seville's former Jewish quarter. Rather than a single building, the hotel is made up of traditional Andalusian houses connected by courtyards, fountains and winding passageways.

Each room has its own character, layout and details. Shaded patios, tiled courtyards and quiet corners make the hotel feel very much part of Seville rather than simply a place to sleep.

Its location in the old city also means we can return to the hotel between the daytime and evening parts of the program – to rest, change and take a little time for ourselves before heading out again.
